MICHELLE MILTON

My name is Michelle Milton. I was born and raised in Northern California in a very loving Catholic home.  I was encouraged as a child to play sports, and began soccer and tennis at 5 years of age.  I started playing competitive soccer when I was 10 and from there on out my life revolved soccer.  I was taught that when I chose to do something I was to commit to it and that I should never give up or let the team down.

When I was fourteen my Aunt sat me down at the top of my parent’s stairs and told me about the Lord Jesus Christ. I knew who Jesus was, but I had never heard about accepting Jesus into my heart and personally accepting Him as my Lord and Savior.  It was at that time that I asked Jesus into my life. My journey may have started at the top of my stairs, but it was just the beginning of a wonderful relationship.

When I was 14 I did not truly understand the meaning of becoming a Christian. I went through high school and college making immature choices, but God did not let me fall to far from Him.  I felt alone even when I was surrounded by friends. I felt like there was something missing from my life. When I would feel like this I would turn to God and pray for guidance. One night when I was living in Colorado and going to college, I pulled out my Bible and began to read and I just felt like I needed to go back home.  It was when I came home from college that I truly understood the love that God has for me. I recommitted my life to Him and love my life because of it.

I still struggle daily. As each day, week, month goes by I realize that I am so busy with my crazy schedule that I do not give God the time that He deserves. The lesson that I learned about commitment so many years ago was slipping through my grasp. Satan, the opposition, was beating me because I was letting my team down…. I am learning to prioritize my hectic schedule and God is my #1 priority, team, friend and Heavenly Father.  When I put Him first my life is 110% more successful and joyful. When I pray He answers and when I listen I get my answers.  God always has the winning team and I love being on His team.

The Bible verse that shapes my life is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.”  When I am up, down, sprinting through the day, or sprinting on an obstacle course I know that with God by my side I can accomplish all things.
